Connect with Your Toddler over Bedtime Snacks

One of the most challenging parts of becoming a new mom of 2 has been adjusting to not having as much one-on-one time with my oldest. Before my second was born, I had so much free time to play with him. That suddenly shifted to being able to still play with him but most likely while holding his baby sister as well. It wasn’t prepared for how different our play together would be!

Spending good, quality time together is incredibly important to me so I make it a point to get that time with him at least one during the day. In this current season, the best time for me to get quality time with my toddler is over snacks right before he goes to bed.

As part of our bedtime routine, we enjoy a snack together in his room with the lights dimmed. I usually ask what he would like and then I add something I would like to and we share a snack together off of one plate. Sometimes we sing songs while we eat, complete a puzzle, read a book, listen to music or just talk. I look forward to this time every night and it simply fills up my cup before we go our separate ways for the night.

How do you make sure you get quality time with your toddler?
