It’s such an exciting milestone moment to see your precious little baby roll over for the first time! But have you heard that a newborn rolling over could be a sign that baby has tension in his or her body? A newborn is classified as any baby 3 months or younger. Rolling over is a skill that is typically achieved closer to that 3 month mark.
If your child is rolling over sooner than this and hasn’t been seen by a chiropractor, you may want to consider taking them to see one! And if you’re nursing, a lactation consultant is also a great expert to add to your care team. A lot of tension can come from your baby’s oral function and if he or she is not using their tongue properly it can cause tension in other areas of the body. The chiropractor is a great place to start and he or she can refer you to other specialists, if needed.
If you have a newborn who has rolled over and work with a chiropractor to release tension, it’s possible they may not roll over for a while again as the tension gets relieved. Don’t worry! I experienced this with my daughter as a newborn and she happily rolled over once again closer to 3 months.
