How to Extend Play at the Playground

We met up with some friends at the playground recently, and I watched them walk up to the playground with a large basket. The toddler was so excited to show my son what was in the basket she brought! Inside were a bunch of different toys she had hand-selected to bring to the playground that day to share with him.

The playground itself was awesome! It was recently renovated and it was our first time there so everything was brand new to the kids. But if you really want to spend hours at the playground, bringing a couple of toys can really help extend your child’s play!

Here are some ideas of toys to bring to your next play date:

  • Vehicles (cars, trucks, etc.) are great to going down sldies
  • Bouncy balls can also go down slides or can be used on pavement for kids to pass back-and-forth
  • Buckets for sand or water if there’s a fountain nearby

Or simply take the approach this Mom did and let your child choose! Just be careful with leaving anything with batteries in a hot car.

Have you tried bringing toys to the playground? What toys does your child like to bring?
